Frequently asked questions
What does a typical day freediving with us look like?
Once you arrive at our site and meet the salty crew you will take 20-30mins to stretch and relax in preparation for the days diving. After a short debrief we will then get you in the water straight away. Each course has a mixture of open ocean, pool and theory session with most of the open water session taking place in the morning due to the afternoon winds here in Western Australia.
Why should we choose the Molchanovs Course?
While the structure and duration of courses remain consistent across agencies, there are notable differences in the Molchanovs course structure. Firstly, PADI course requirements tend to be slightly more lenient compared to Molchanovs. Additionally, Molchanovs stands out by incorporating the "No Fins" Discipline into all its courses and providing a post-course training program at no extra charge, offering participants the opportunity for continued self-improvement. Moreover, Molchanovs Freediving Courses boast curriculum crafted by renowned freedivers globally and impose stricter training standards on their instructors. Despite these points, it's encouraged to conduct personal research. Nonetheless, our initial selection of Molchanovs has proven to be a rewarding choice without regrets.
What can I do to prepare for my course?
We will provide you with a manual for each course which you can read over and take the short online test before arriving for your first day. You should also be well rested, hydrated, and ready to learn some new skills.
When is the best time to come Freediving with us?
We think anytime! However, the warmer months, from September to May are more comfortable, with water temperatures ranging from around 19°C to 25°C (68°F to 75°F), making extended dives more pleasant. Additionally, visibility tends to be better in the summer months, offering clearer views of marine life and underwater landscapes. However, it's essential to keep in mind that weather conditions and water temperatures can vary.
I already know how to freedive, why would I want to do a course?
Even if you can already dive to 20 meters, enrolling in a freediving course offers invaluable benefits. These courses prioritise safety, equipping you with essential knowledge to mitigate risks like shallow water blackout and decompression sickness. They refine your technique, optimizing body positioning, breath-hold duration, and equalization methods for more efficient dives. Understanding the physiology of freediving, including oxygen deprivation and pressure changes, enhances your performance and guards against injury. Furthermore, such courses cultivate mental resilience, teaching relaxation techniques to manage stress and anxiety underwater. Environmental awareness, community building, and networking opportunities round out the comprehensive education provided by our freediving courses, ensuring not only safer diving but also a deeper appreciation and enjoyment of the marine environment.
